General Info

Serving

First Fruits – We believe that we are not only ministered to but are called to use our gifts and resources to minister to others, dedicating the first 10% of our offering to other local, national, and international Christian organizations each week.

Serving Christ as a Community – Our Mission and Outreach committee provides information and recommends action on social concerns; provides information on financial and other support of local, national, and international mission projects, with emphasis on those engendering a sense of community; and seeks to witness to the local community as the evangelizing (good news sharing) arm of our church.

Faith in Action – Because the building of community is important to us we try to provide opportunities appropriate for multiple generations. Grand Rapids is blessed with many Christian ministries highly qualified in meeting a broad range of needs. Rather than duplicating what already exists, we are committed to partnering with a handful of these organizations with our time, resources and prayer.

Faith in Action

Partnership with Ridge Park Charter Academy – Enrichment activities at various locations in our community are offered to at-risk, high achieving students each trimester. In the winter we collect hats, scarves and mittens to provide for students in need of them.

Senior Sing A-long – Founded by the Van Haaftens, this ministry provides two entertainers every month to the homes they serve, and at least five for the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.

Grace/Access Hunger Walk – Every spring we participate in the Grace/Access hunger walk as we work together to alleviate hunger in our community.

Community Garden – With the help of our neighbors, we are planting seeds and building community while working to alleviate hunger in our community.

Glean at the Ada Farmer’s Market – We assist with the collection of fresh produce donated by shoppers and farmers that is delivered weekly to local agencies serving people in need.

Access Food Drive – Every fall we collaborate with other Kent County congregations to collect non-perishable food and other non-food items for distribution to neighborhood food pantries.
