Worship

Worship is an ongoing conversation between God and the gathered community. We practice the following when we gather to help us better practice this conversation throughout the week.

Gathering – Called by God to worship, we do so with others in the company of Jesus Christ. In worship we are formed by the Holy Spirit and informed by God’s Word.

Praise – God invites us to express our praise with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Musically we offer new songs to the Lord, as well as the great hymns of faith.

Confession and Assurance – Admitting our guilt breaks down the barriers between us and God, and builds up the community of believers. God’s forgiveness is always assured after we confess.

The Word – We desire to become more like the one who became flesh and lived among us and so God’s word is of the highest priority, informing all that we do and express.

The Sacraments – Baptism and the Lord’s Supper show us what the Bible tells us, that God is gracious. These gifts unite us to God more firmly, refresh us, while also inspiring us to action.

Prayer – In prayer we talk to God, listen to God, and receive the gift of communion with God. We bring praise, thanksgiving, confession, personal requests, and requests for others to God.

Giving – We give because God first gave to us. All that we have belongs to the Giver of all things. Giving helps connect our love for God with our life of following Christ.

The Blessing – Blessed to bless others, this good word from God sums up God’s work in worship and points us to how God’s transforming work in us is to be lived out daily.
